Bone Mineral Density Camp – 19.02.2025

A Bone Mineral Density (BMD) Camp was successfully conducted on 19/02/2025 from 9:00
AM to 1:00 PM at Alva’s Ayurveda Peripheral Clinic, Renjala, under the banner of medical
camp and day celebrations. The programme was organized by the Department of Kriya Shareera,
in collaboration with Dr. Prashant Jain, Professor and Head, Department of Roga Nidana. The
camp aimed at early screening and awareness of bone health among the community. A total of
50 patients attended the camp and were evaluated for bone mineral density. The medical services
were rendered under the guidance of Dr. Ajay Kumar A, PG Scholar, with the support of one
intern, ensuring systematic examination and patient interaction.
During the camp, several cases of osteopenia and osteoporosis (Asthi Kshaya) were identified.
As part of the thesis titled “An interventional study to evaluate the efficacy of Asthisamharaadi
Yoga on Bone Mineral Density,” the screening data was utilized for subject selection. Among
the screened population, many individuals were found to have low BMD, and based on the
inclusion criteria, 33 subjects were enrolled for the study and provided with the required
medications. Patients were educated regarding lifestyle modification and bone health care, and a
follow-up was scheduled on 05/03/2025 to assess progress and compliance. The camp served as
an effective platform for community service, clinical exposure, and research integration,
contributing meaningfully to preventive healthcare and academic objectives.
