WORLD SNAKE DAY – 16.07.2025

On 16th July 2025, the Department of Agada Tantra, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, organized the observation of World Snake Day at Hall No. 4 with the objective of creating awareness about snakes and their vital role in maintaining ecological balance. The program aimed to educate students about different species of snakes, promote conservation, dispel myths and misconceptions, and encourage an eco-sensitive attitude toward wildlife. The second-year junior batch actively participated in the event. A major highlight was a multimedia presentation on venomous and non-venomous snakes found in India, including the King Cobra, Indian Python, Common Krait, and Rat Snake. Students also displayed creative posters and informative presentations, emphasizing the importance of not killing snakes and instead contacting rescue teams when encountered. The observation witnessed enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty, resulting in increased awareness about snake conservation and a positive shift in students’ attitudes toward reptiles. Prizes were announced to motivate participation, with Pratheeksha U P securing the first prize, Raghavendra S H the second prize, and Nisha and Karkera Nidhi Rajesh jointly winning the third prize. The winners were appreciated for their creativity, research, and efforts in spreading awareness about snake protection, and the prizes will be distributed on the occasion of Dhanwanthari Jayanti. Overall, the World Snake Day observation was educational and impactful, helping students understand the ecological importance of snakes and encouraging respect and coexistence with wildlife.
