- Manasvi-2020’-National level workshop on supportive therapies was organized by Dept. of Manovijnana and Manasaroga, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College from 30/01/2020 to 01/02/2020. Dr. Anand Kirishal, Executive Member, CCIM, New Delhi inaugurated the workshop by lighting the lamp. In his Inaugural speech he emphasized the need for globalization of Ayurveda and steps taken by the CCIM for the same. Resource person of the workshop Mr SMP Staney briefed about the present day lifestyle and stress as the causative factor for psychiatric and behavioral problems and highlighted the importance of counseling in prevention and management of these problems. - A National Level essay competition AYUR KOVIDA-2020 was conducted by Alva’s Traditional Medicine Archive (ATMA)& Research Centre of Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, Moodbidri for the students, interns and PG scholars of Ayurveda on the topic ‘Covid-19, Scope of Ayurveda to make Swastha Bharatha’. It was a free online competition and cash prizes were declared on 31st May 2020. Total 608 Essays were received from 168 colleges of 22 states. First Prize was bagged by Samriddhi Srivastava, I year BAMS, Divya Jyoti Ayurvedic Medical College, Modinagar, Ghaziabad, Second Prize by Dr. Aswathy. P, II Year PG Scholar, Department of Rogavijnana & Vikritivijnana, National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur, Rajasthan and Third Prize by Dr.Divya Ramachandran, 1st year PG Scholar, Dept. of Ayurveda Samhita & Siddanta, Government Ayurvedic Medical College, Mysore, Karnataka. There were also 15 Encouraging Prizes.
- Alva’s Ayurveda Medical college and hospital, Moodubidire organized a webinar on the occasion of World Mental Health Day on 10th October 2020. Resource person, Dr Anirudh Shetty, consultant psychiatrist national health mission, Government of Karnataka, spoke on the topic “Alcohol Dependence Syndrome and its Management”.
- A one-day symposium on ASHOKA VRIKSHA was conducted by Alva’s Traditional Medicine Archive (ATMA) & Research Centre in association with Karnataka State Medicinal Plants Authority on 30.01.2021 at Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, Moodubidire. The symposium was focused on the history, cultivation, controversy on identification, and therapeutic utilities of different parts of Ashoka tree (Saraca ashoka), an endangered medicinal plant. The resolutions passed by members of Panel in the discussions are as follows1. Encourage the cultivation of Ashoka by the local farmers.2. Encourage the marketing of different parts of Ashoka from the Forest Department to the various herbal drug industries and increase the revenue3. Simplify the legal aspects regarding harvesting and utilization of Ashoka4. Preparing the various new products of different parts of Ashoka5. Import and Export of Ashoka Products6. Encouraging the cultivation of endangered medicinal plants.7. Developing various Vanas mentioned in ancient Indian literature, conservation and overall development of the forest.A unique exhibition on Various food & medicinal products of different parts of Ashoka Vriksha such as Ashoka Pak, Ashoka Syrrup, Ashoka granules, Ashoka Leha, Ashoka Burfi, Ashoka Taila, Ashoka Soap etc were the center of attraction of the symposium. In a nutshell, the symposium was highly successful & further our Research Centre is ready to continue such research oriented programs.A motivational talk by Dr. Suresh Negalaguli, BAMS, MS (Ayu) inspired interns to uphold the dignity of the medical profession and continuously enhance their clinical skills. The interactive session encouraged active participation and strengthened bonding among interns and faculty members. Programme concluded with a vote of thanks. Overall, the event successfully instilled confidence, clarity, and enthusiasm among interns as they embarked on their professional journey in Ayurveda practice.
- The Interns’ Get-Together – Vishikhanupravesha for the Internship Batch 2024–25 was conducted on 11th September 2025 at 10:30 AM in the PG Seminar Hall of Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital. The programme marked the formal induction of interns into their clinical training phase and symbolized their transition from students to responsible medical professionals.The event began with an invocation followed by a welcome address. An orientation session was conducted to brief interns about departmental postings, hospital protocols, case record maintenance, and professional ethics. The importance of punctuality, discipline, teamwork, and compassionate patient care was emphasized.
- INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLICIT TRAFFICKING – 26.06.2025 – Department of Agada Tantra, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College Moodbidri observed International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking on June 26th 2025 by PG students of Agadatantra and II Prof BAMS (Senior Batch). Prof. Mamatha, Faculty of Law, Alva’s Law College, Moodbidri was the Resource person. The Function was presided by the Principal, Dr. Sajith M. Prof. Mamatha delivered the Guest Speech on the Drug abuse and Illicit trafficking if the abusive drugs, Laws and Regulatory acts related to the Drug Trafficking, Government Programs related to prevent the drug abuse among youth, help line meant for incidences of drug abuse and the responsibility of Indian youth to fight against the drug abuse. Invocation prayer was rendered by the UG students, Dr Sumanth Shenoy, HOD of the department welcomed the Resource person and the gathering, Dr. Suresh Y, have away the Vote of Thanks, Dr. Shrividya, 2nd year PG Scholar Mastered the Ceremony.
- Free Prakriti Parikshana Camp – 23.08.2025-Dept. of Shareera Kriya, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, conducted Free Prakriti Parikshana Camp on 23.08.2025 and also suggested lifestyle modifications required accordingly. On 26th November, the first phase of the Desh ka Prakriti Parikshan (DKPP) campaign was successfully inaugurated at Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College under the guidance of the Ministry of Ayush and the NCISM. This program actively engaged citizens as well as graduate and post-graduate students from in and around Moodbidri. We began the campaign by covering all students of the institute and later extended our outreach to citizens by setting up a stall at the Virasat program, a large public gathering in Alva’s. This allowed us to connect with a broader audience and spread awareness about the significance of prakriti analysis in disease prevention and maintaining overall health. The active participation of students and teaching staff played a crucial role in the success of this initiative. Citizens involved in the campaign gained valuable insights into the importance of understanding their prakriti for leading a healthier life. We sincerely thank and appreciate the leadership and efforts of the Ministry of Ayush, NCISM, and the Karnataka State Coordinator in making this campaign a grand success. We wholeheartedly assure our continued support for any such initiatives in the future.
- HERBOTECH: State Level Workshop on Herbal Drug Research: 23, 24. 05.2025–Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital, a unit of Alva’s Education Foundation®, Moodubidire, successfully organized a State-level Workshop titled “HERBOTECH – 2025: Advancing Herbal Drug Research” on 23rd and 24th May 2025 at the campus of Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, Moodubidire. The workshop was organized by Alva’s Traditional Medicine Archive & Research Centre (ATMA) and was sponsored by the Karnataka State Medicinal Plants Authority (KSMPS), Bengaluru. The programme was conceived with the objective of bridging the gap between traditional medicinal knowledge and contemporary scientific research in the field of herbal drug development, with a special focus on quality, standardization, and regulatory aspects of medicinal plant research.The workshop covered a wide spectrum of themes including botanical mapping, geo-informatics, pharmacognosy, phytochemical analysis, pharmaceutical analysis, and Ayur-analytics, emphasizing both theoretical understanding and practical applications. Through expert lectures, interactive sessions, and hands-on demonstrations, participants gained comprehensive exposure to modern tools and techniques used in medicinal plant identification, evaluation, and drug development. The programme also addressed critical aspects such as raw drug standardization, quality control measures, and regulatory compliance, which are essential in the current global scenario of increasing demand for plant-based therapeutics.The workshop was convened by Dr. Sajith M., Principal, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, Moodubidire, and coordinated by Dr. Subrahmanya Padyana, Head, Department of Dravyaguna Vijnana and Director, ATMA Research Centre, Moodubidire, as the Organizing Secretary. The organizing committee, along with faculty members and staff, ensured smooth execution of all academic and administrative activities throughout the two-day programme.
- Guest Lecture on :’Overview of Clinical Research and Challenges in conducting Herbal Research’ – 02.12.2025.– Guest Lecture was organised by Dept. of Agadatantra on 02.12.2025 at PG Seminar Hall by Dr. Sooryanarayana H., Manager, Clinical Operations, Himalaya Wellness Company, on the topic ‘Overview of Clinical Research and Challenges in conducting Herbal Research’. The program commenced with an inauguration ceremony, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Sumanth Shenoy, Head of the Department, PG Studies in Agada Tantra, who briefed the gathering about the importance of clinical research in Ayurveda and formally welcomed the dignitaries and participants. The program was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Susheel Shetty, who emphasized the significance of evidence-based practice and encouraged postgraduate students to actively engage in research activities. The resource person, Dr. Sooryanarayana H, Manager – Clinical Operations, Himalaya Wellness Company, Bengaluru, was felicitated in recognition of his valuable contributions to clinical research and herbal drug development. Dr. Sooryanarayana H delivered an insightful and interactive session covering the fundamentals of clinical research, regulatory frameworks, ethical considerations, and industry expectations. He elaborated on major challenges in herbal research such as standardization of raw drugs, quality control, clinical validation, and regulatory compliance.
- National Sanskrit Day 2025 – 08.08.2025-The Department of Ayurveda Samhita & Siddhanta, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital, Moodubidire, successfully celebrated Charaka Jayanthi and National Samskrita Day on 9th August 2025 at the PG Seminar Hall. The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Mr. Sathyanarayan Bhat, followed by the introduction of the resource person by Dr. Manjula K. The academic session featured an enlightening talk on “Understanding the Diction in Samhitas” by the esteemed resource person Dr. Shrikanth P.H., Professor and Head, Dept. of Ayurveda Samhita & Siddhanta, Yenepoya Ayurveda Medical College, Mangalore. The event was further enriched by Vachana-Pravachana by Dr. Krishnamurthy M.S. and Dr. Subramanya Padyana, which highlighted the depth and relevance of Samskrita and Samhita traditions in Ayurveda. The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Soumya S.M., making the celebration academically inspiring and culturally meaningful for all participants.
- WORLD SNAKE DAY – 16.07.2025-On 16th July 2025, the Department of Agada Tantra, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, organized the observation of World Snake Day at Hall No. 4 with the objective of creating awareness about snakes and their vital role in maintaining ecological balance. The program aimed to educate students about different species of snakes, promote conservation, dispel myths and misconceptions, and encourage an eco-sensitive attitude toward wildlife. The second-year junior batch actively participated in the event. A major highlight was a multimedia presentation on venomous and non-venomous snakes found in India, including the King Cobra, Indian Python, Common Krait, and Rat Snake. Students also displayed creative posters and informative presentations, emphasizing the importance of not killing snakes and instead contacting rescue teams when encountered. The observation witnessed enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty, resulting in increased awareness about snake conservation and a positive shift in students’ attitudes toward reptiles. Prizes were announced to motivate participation, with Pratheeksha U P securing the first prize, Raghavendra S H the second prize, and Nisha and Karkera Nidhi Rajesh jointly winning the third prize. The winners were appreciated for their creativity, research, and efforts in spreading awareness about snake protection, and the prizes will be distributed on the occasion of Dhanwanthari Jayanti. Overall, the World Snake Day observation was educational and impactful, helping students understand the ecological importance of snakes and encouraging respect and coexistence with wildlife.
- The SHISHIKSHA (Bench to Bedside) Internship Orientation Programme was conducted from 23rd to 29th October 2025 as per NCISM guidelines to prepare interns for clinical responsibilities. The programme commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony followed by an inaugural address and pre-test.Throughout the six-day schedule, interns were oriented to hospital protocols, NABH standards, biomedical waste management, documentation procedures, and medico-legal aspects. Academic sessions covered Kayachikitsa, Panchakarma, Shalya Tantra, Shalakya Tantra, Kaumarbhritya, Swasthavrutta & Yoga, and emergency management. Special emphasis was given to communication skills, leadership, counselling, personality development, and team-building activities.Hands-on guidance regarding OPD/IPD documentation, HIMS, e-logbook maintenance, pharmaco-vigilance, and national health programmes enhanced practical understanding. Sessions on AYUSH regulatory bodies, ABDM, medical value travel, and entrepreneurial opportunities broadened professional perspectives.The programme concluded with a post-test and valedictory function. Overall, the orientation successfully strengthened interns’ clinical competence, ethical awareness, and confidence in delivering quality Ayurvedic healthcare services.
- Dept. of Shalyatantra has organised screening and free medicine distributuion medical camp for Vericose Vein. 17 patients were benefitted from this camp and those who required further medical treatments were referred to AAMC Hospital.
- MANASVI-2025 – 18.01.2025 – National Level Workshop on ‘An Insight into Daivavyapashraya Chikitsa’, was organised by Dept. of Manasa Roga, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, Moodbidre. On 18th January 2025, a national-level workshop on "An Insight into Daivavyapashraya Chikitsa was organized by Manasa Roga and Kaya Chikitsa. Dr. Raghavendra Udupa served as the resource person for the workshop. The inauguration ceremony took place on the same day at 9:30 AM, with Dr. Vinayaka Gaalimane gracing the event as the Guest of Honor. The chief organizing secretary for the workshop was Dr. Vinitha D’Souza. The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Raviprasad Hegde. The presidential address delivered by Dr. Sajith M. Vote of thank by Dr Vinitha Dsouza, master of ceremony was done by Dr Smitha suraj. A total of 150 delegates from various Institution attended and benefited from the workshop.
- Arthritis Camp was organised by dept. of Kayachikitsa and Panchakarma, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, in association with Alva’s Niramaya Multispeciality Hospital. The programme was formally inaugurated on 13.10.2025.
- Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, conducted a Free Medical Camp on Psoriasis on account of World Psoriasis Day 2025 on 29.10.2025 from 9.30am onwards at Alva’s Pharmacy Mijar. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Greeshma Alva, Managing Trustee, Alva’s Pharmacy Mijar and was presided by Principal Dr. Susheel Shetty, Dr. Subrahmanya Padyana, Staffs and PG Scholars of AAMC, Moodubidire.
- The Department of Dravyaguna Vijnana enthusiastically observed World Environment Day 2025 on 5th June, in alignment with the global theme “Beat Plastic Pollution.” The event focused on promoting sustainable, eco-conscious practices rooted in Ayurveda principles. Dr. Lakshmi Pai, Professor, Department of Dravyaguna, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College.
- Health awareness/education program was conducted by Alva’s College (Autonomous), Moodubidire on the topic “We are what we eat” at Alva’s College (Autonomous), Moodubidire on 19.08.2025, 11.00 am -12.30 pm for B Com students. Dr. Smitha Bhat U.S. Associate Professor, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, Moodubidire, was the resource person, delivered the interactive session to the 1 st year B Com students. Importance of nutrition in the food for growth and development and overall health was made clear to the students. Daily requirement of individual nutrients were explained to each students based on their body necessity. The program was presided by the Mrs.Chandravathi, B Com CA Foundation program Mentor. It ended with the question and answers session. The program was assisted by PG scholars of Swasthavritta Department. 36 students got benefitted by the program.
- Health awareness/education program was conducted by Department of Social Work, Alva’s College (Autonomous), Moodubidire on the topic “Study techniques” at Jawaharalal Nehru High School, Shirtady on 07.11.2025, 11.00 am -12.00 pm for high school students. Dr. Smitha Bhat U.S. Associate Professor, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, Moodubidire, was the resource person, delivered the interactive session to the high school students. Various study techniques and methods to keep oneself healthy was made clear to the students. Importance of practice of yoga in improving the concentration power is highlighted. Program was organised by the BSW students. It was presided by Mrs. Ashalatha, PDO, Shirtady. The program was graced with the presence of Mrs. Malarhi Asst. headmistress Jawaharalal Nehru High School, Shirtady. It ended with the question and answers session. The program was assisted by PG scholars of Swasthavritta Department. 48 students got benefitted by the program.
- An Awareness Programme on Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH ACT) was organised by Internal Complaints Committee of Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College. Ms. Amritha Jayashankar, Assistant Professor of Law, Alva’s Law College and Legal Advisor to Alva’s Education Foundation was the Keynote Speaker for the programme.
- Institutional Anti-Ragging Committee of Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, organised an awareness programme on ‘The Legal Aspects of Ragging’ on 14.11.2025 at Dr.V.S.Acharya Auditorium, Vidyagiri. The Keynote speakers for the programme were Mrs. Mamatha, Associate Professor, Alva’s Law College and Mrs. Pratibha K.C., Police Sub Inspector, Moodbidre.
- ALVA’S SANJEEVANI – 2025 – 03.01.2025The Department of Dravyaguna Vijnana, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, Moodubidire, in collaboration with Himalaya Wellness Company, Bengaluru, jointly organized “Alva’s Sanjeevini – 2025”, a National-level Workshop on Plant Taxonomy and Pharmacognosy, on 3rd and 4th January 2025 at Dhanwantari Hall, Vidyagiri. The workshop commenced with the inaugural function held on 3rd January 2025 at 11.00 AM. The programme was inaugurated and the inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Madh Krishna, M.Sc., Ph.D., Professor of Biology, Central State University, Ohio, USA, who emphasized the importance of plant taxonomy and pharmacognosy in validating traditional medicinal knowledge and strengthening evidence-based herbal research. Dr. Gururaj Chalager, Principal Scientist, Botanical Extraction Unit, Himalaya Wellness Company, Bengaluru, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and shared valuable insights on industrial applications, standardization, and quality assurance of medicinal plant extracts. The inaugural session was presided over by Dr. M. Mohan Alva, Chairman, Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodubidire, whose address highlighted the role of academic–industry collaboration in advancing Ayurvedic education and research. The valedictory function was conducted on 4th January 2025 at 4.30 PM at the same venue. The valedictory address was delivered by Dr. Manjunath Setty, M.Pharm., Ph.D., Principal, Alva’s College of Pharmacy, Moodubidire, who summarized the deliberations of the workshop and stressed the need for interdisciplinary approaches in pharmacognosy research. The session was presided over by Dr. Vinay Alva, Trustee, Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodubidire. The workshop witnessed active participation from faculty members, research scholars, postgraduate and undergraduate students, and professionals from the field of Ayurveda and pharmaceutical sciences. The two-day programme successfully enhanced participants’ understanding of medicinal plant identification, taxonomy, phytochemical evaluation, and their relevance in both traditional medicine and modern healthcare systems, thereby fulfilling its objective of strengthening knowledge exchange between academia and industry.
- BEYOND SKIN – WORKSHOP ON MASTERING THE ART & SCIENCE OF COSMETOLOGY – 16.12.2025A one-day workshop was organised by the Dept. of Rasashastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana and Dept. of Agadatantra for the students and staffs of Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, Moodbidri. The inaugural ceremony of “Beyond Skin – Mastering the Art & Science of Cosmetology” was organised by Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Moodubidire, Karnataka, on 16 December 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the V. S. Acharya Auditorium. The programme commenced with a prayer followed by the welcome address delivered by Dr. M. S. Krishnamurthy, Professor and Head of the Department of RSBK, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Moodubidire. The lighting of the lamp was performed by all the dignitaries. The inaugural address was delivered by the Chief Guest, Dr. Hana Shetty, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and Managing Trustee of Alva’s Education Foundation (R), Moodubidire. The presidential address was given by Dr. Susheel Shetty, Principal of Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Moodubidire. The academic session featured resource persons Dr. Amala Jyothi, BAMS, MD (AYU), FMC, Director of Dermislove Cosmetics and Founder of AyurJyothi Education and Wellness Centre, Bubblez Cosmetics, and Dr. Varada Mohan, BAMS, PGDAC, YIC, Director of Ayurveda Payyanur Institute of Paramedical Science and Consulting Cosmetologist at Vaidyaratnam Oushadhasala, Payyanur. - Free Medical Camp – on 13.02.2025Free Medical Camp was held at Karimanelu, St. Jude aided senior primary school on 13.02.2025.
- Bone Mineral Density Camp – 19.02.2025A Bone Mineral Density (BMD) Camp was successfully conducted on 19/02/2025 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Alva’s Ayurveda Peripheral Clinic, Renjala, under the banner of medical camp and day celebrations. The programme was organized by the Department of Kriya Shareera, in collaboration with Dr. Prashant Jain, Professor and Head, Department of Roga Nidana. The camp aimed at early screening and awareness of bone health among the community. A total of 50 patients attended the camp and were evaluated for bone mineral density. The medical services were rendered under the guidance of Dr. Ajay Kumar A, PG Scholar, with the support of one intern, ensuring systematic examination and patient interaction.During the camp, several cases of osteopenia and osteoporosis (Asthi Kshaya) were identified. As part of the thesis titled “An interventional study to evaluate the efficacy of Asthisamharaadi Yoga on Bone Mineral Density,” the screening data was utilized for subject selection. Among the screened population, many individuals were found to have low BMD, and based on the inclusion criteria, 33 subjects were enrolled for the study and provided with the required medications. Patients were educated regarding lifestyle modification and bone health care, and a follow-up was scheduled on 05/03/2025 to assess progress and compliance. The camp served as an effective platform for community service, clinical exposure, and research integration, contributing meaningfully to preventive healthcare and academic objectives.
- Blood Donation Camp – 04.06.2025Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College NSS Unit and Alumni Association in association with Prerana Charitable Trust Moodbidri and Indian Redcross Society Moodbidri conducted the blood donation camp at Alvas Ayurveda Hospital Vidyagiri Moodbidri on 4th June 2025.Dr. Sajith M, Pricipal, AAMC, Moodbidri motivated the students to join hands for social cause like blood donation. Dr. Sumanth Shenoy, NSS Program Officer Welcomed the gathering. Total 218 volunteers from various colleges of Alva’s Education Foundation registered for Blood Donation and 152 volunteers donated the blood. Blood Centre KMC Mangalore and Alva’s Health Centre Blood Bank Moodbidri were the beneficiaries.
- Free Eye Checkup Camp – on 09.06.2025 Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, Moodbidre in association with A.J. Institute of Medical College, Mangalore, are jointly organising ‘Free Eye Ceckup Camp’ on 09/06/2025 at 9.30am at Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College Hospital. Programme was inaugurated by Dr. M. - Migraine and Headache Awareness & Free Checkup Month– 01.08.2025 to 30.08.2025Organised by Dept. of Shalakya Tantra, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, Moodbidre. The camp provided free migraine and headache camp with the objective of promoting awareness and extending ayurvedic healthcare services. A free checkup was done in Fridays of whole month of September. Faculty members along with Post graduate scholars, actively participated in conducting the checkup. Their involvement ensured comprehensive patient care while also enriching the clinical exposure. The free checkup was well appreciated by the beneficiaries and highlighted the institutions commitment to community health.
- Sharad Virechana Camp – 22.09.2025 to 20.11.2025The Department of Panchakarma, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital, Moodbidire, successfully conducted the Sharad Virechana programme from 22nd September to 20th November 2025 as part of its preventive and therapeutic healthcare services. Sharad Virechana, a classical seasonal Panchakarma procedure indicated during Sharad Ritu for the elimination of aggravated Pitta Dosha, was undertaken with the objectives of preventing seasonal diseases, managing Pitta-dominant clinical conditions, and promoting overall health and wellbeing. Patients were selected after thorough clinical examination and assessment of Rogi–Roga Bala, and the standard Panchakarma protocol was followed, including Purva Karma procedures such as Deepana–Pachana, Snehapana, Abhyanga, and Swedana, followed by Pradhana Karma in the form of Virechana using appropriate Virechana Yogas, and Paschat Karma comprising Samsarjana Krama and lifestyle advice. The programme benefited a total of 25 individuals, including 10 students, 1 staff member, and 14 outpatients, who underwent Virechana therapy for conditions such as skin disorders, digestive complaints, acidity, constipation, obesity, hypertension, PCOD, and thyroid disorders. The outcomes of the programme included effective elimination of vitiated Pitta Dosha, improvement in clinical symptoms, enhanced digestion and metabolism, better skin health, and overall wellbeing, with positive feedback from beneficiaries. The successful conduct of the Sharad Virechana programme highlighted the importance of seasonal Panchakarma interventions in disease prevention, health maintenance, and experiential learning for students.
- Free Bone Mineral Density Camp -04.10.2025Dept. of Shalyatantra and Kayachikitsa, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College Hospital in association with Emami (Zandu) organised Free Bone Mineral Density Camp on 04.10.2025 from 9am to 4pm. The camp was headed by Dr. Kiran K., and 22 patients were benefitted from this camp.
- Abhyanga Saptaha – 18/10/2025 to 24.10.2025eThe Department of Panchakarma (Kaya Kalpa Unit), Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital, Moodbidire, successfully conducted Abhyanga Saptaha, a wellness-oriented Panchakarma programme, from 18th to 24th October 2025 between 7.00 AM and 4.00 PM as part of its preventive healthcare and community outreach activities. The programme focused on the regular practice of Abhyanga to promote physical and mental relaxation, relieve fatigue and stress, improve skin health and complexion, enhance sleep quality, and encourage preventive healthcare practices. Prior to the procedures, participants were assessed and treated following standard Panchakarma protocols, which included Purva Karma involving preliminary assessment and preparation, Pradhana Karma comprising Abhyanga with appropriate medicated oils followed by Bashpa Sweda, and Paschat Karma consisting of rest and lifestyle advice. A total of 55 beneficiaries availed the services during the programme and reported significant benefits such as improved relaxation, better sleep patterns, enhanced skin texture and glow, and overall wellbeing. The programme received positive feedback from participants and successfully fulfilled its objectives of promotive and preventive healthcare, while also providing practical exposure to Panchakarma therapies.
- YOGA TRAINING PROGRAMME SERIES – ONCE A MONTH – 2025Department of PG Studies in Swasthavritta & Yoga, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital conducted Yoga training campaign under health education program at adopted school D.K.Z.P. Government Higher Primary School Pucchamogaru, Moodubidire for the higher primary grade students on 04.01.2025, 11.01.2025, 25.01.2025, 01.02.2025, 22.02.2025, 01.03.2025, 28.06.2025, 05.07.2025, 12.07.2025, 09.08.2025, 16.08.2025, 08.11.2025 and 06.12.2025. 45 minutes yoga training session was conducted by the resource person Dr.Smitha Bhat U.S., Associate Professor, Dept of Swastharitta, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, Moodubidire. Basic yoga postures with loosening exercises, breathing exercises, meditation, relaxation and shanti mantra was performed. PG scholars of Swasthavritta Dept demonstrated and assisted the yoga training session. 2 nd B.A.M.S. students were posted to the yoga training session on rotation basis.As per the plan every Saturday yoga training was done at 10am-1pm. - REGULAR JAARIGEKATTE CAMP – 3rd Sunday of every monthAlva’s Ayurveda Medical College organises Regular Free Health Screening and Medicine Distribution Camp on third Sunday of each month at Jarigekatte. The camp is headed by a volunteer consultant of Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, along with internees.
- REGULAR DE-ADDICTION CAMP – 03.03.2025 to 26.10.2025Regular de-addiction camp has been organised by Dept. of Manasa Roga on every Monday at Alangar Temple to screen and further treat the patients suffering from alcohol addiction.
- SAMPANNAM on 28.06.2025 – Farewell for Under Graduate Scholars 2020-2021 Batch was organised on 28nd June 2025 on 9.30am at VS Achatya Hall. Dr. M Mohan Alva, Chairman, Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodubidre was the Chief Guest of the programme.
- 12TH RGUHS ANNUAL INTER COLLEGE ATHLETIC MEET – 18.11.2025 TO 20.11.2025The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka, in association with Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, Moodubidire, successfully organized the 23rd State Level Annual Intercollegiate Athletics Championship 2025–26 at Swaraj Maidan, Moodubidire from 18th to 20th November 2025. The championship aimed to promote sportsmanship, physical fitness, and intercollegiate bonding among students of health science institutions across the state. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from various colleges, creating a vibrant and competitive atmosphere that celebrated the spirit of athletics.The championship was inaugurated on 18th November 2025 at 4:30 PM in the gracious presence of Dr. Bhagavan B.C., Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, RGUHS, Bengaluru, as the Chief Guest. The inaugural function was attended by distinguished dignitaries including Shri Umanath A. Kotian, Shri K. Abhayachandra Jain, Prof. U.T. Iftikar Ali, Dr. Shiva Sharan Shetty, Prof. Vaishali Sreejith, and Dr. B. Vasantha Shetty. Their inspiring addresses encouraged students to balance academics with sports and cultivate discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, making the event both memorable and motivating for all participants.
- WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK 2025 – 06.08.2025On the occupation of breast-feeding week celebration a “Poster Presentation Competition” was organized by Department of Kaumarabhrithya on 06-08-2025 from 11 AM to 12:30 PMfor UG Scholars on the topic “Prioritize Breast Feeding; Create Sustainable Support System”. It was conducted on college auditorium. Dr. Swapna Kumari UG Dean and Dr. Sruthi Bhat 3 rd year class coordinator were the judges of the event.
- VANAMAHOTSAVA – 5.7.2025Department of PG Studies in Dravyaguna Vijnana organised Vanamahotsava Programme at Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, Moodabidire with the Theme: Save plants and keep green and clean. The Department of Dravyaguna Vijnana enthusiastically observed Installation of in-campus herbal garden on 5th June, in alignment with the Save plants and keep green and clean. The event focused on promoting sustainable, eco-conscious practices rooted in Ayurveda principles. Dr Lakshmi Pai, Professor, Department of Dravyaguna, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College Moodabidiri, served as the Resource Person, delivering an insightful address on the need of 100 endangered and red-listed medicinal plants in biodegradable pots, emphasizing the importance of greenary and pollution control. The event reflected the department’s continued commitment to environmental sustainability and the preservation of medicinal plant heritage.
- WORLD HEPATITIS DAY 2025 – 24.07.2025The Department of Kriya Shareera, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, Moodubidire, successfully organized an E-Poster Competition and Model Preparation Competition in connection with World Hepatitis Day 2025, aimed at creating awareness about liver health. The competitions were open to undergraduate students and focused on themes related to hepatitis and liver-related topics from both physiological and Ayurvedic perspectives. Students actively participated by presenting innovative posters and working models, adhering to the prescribed rules and regulations. The shortlisted entries were presented on 24 July 2025 in the college premises, providing a platform for students to showcase their creativity, scientific understanding, and communication skills. The event encouraged academic engagement, interdisciplinary learning, and heightened awareness regarding the prevention and management of liver diseases.
- INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION – 21.06.2025As a part of International Yoga day celebration 2025, Department of PG Studies in Swasthavritta; Yoga, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College and hospital conducted a health education program at D.K.Z.P. Government Higher Primary School Pucchamogaru, Moodubidire for the higher primary grade students. The program was served by Dr.Smitha Bhat U.S. Associate Professor as the resource person, on the topic: Importance of Yoga on health. The students were educated and awareness was created among them about various health benefits of daily yoga practice. The program was concluded with question and answer session for the students to clarify their doubts. They enthusiastically participated in the session and promised to follow the practice of yoga daily. This program was followed by 30mins of yoga demonstration by students. School assistant headmaster Mr. Sukumar was thepresident of the Program, 70students and teaching faculties of the school got benefitted by the program. 1 UG, 2PG students demonstrated and assisted the program.
- WORLD AUTISM DAY – 25.2.2025As part of the observance of World Autism Awareness Day, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital, Moodubidire, organized a Health Awareness Programme titled “Games and Health Awareness Talk for Specially Abled Children” on 25th February 2025 from 10.00 AM to 12.00 PM at the Government Primary School, Gandhinagar, Moodubidire, under the Moodubidri Urban locality. The programme was organized by the Department of Mano Vijnana Evam Manasa Roga in collaboration with the Department of Kaya Chikitsa. The awareness session was conducted by Dr. Vinitha D’Souza, who served as the resource person for the programme. The session focused on promoting physical activity, mental well-being, and general health awareness among specially abled children through interactive games and simple health education talks. A total of 45 specially abled children from the Moodubidri block participated in the programme and actively engaged in the activities conducted. One intern from the institution also attended and assisted in the programme. The initiative successfully created awareness on health and well-being in an inclusive and child-friendly manner and highlighted the importance of community outreach and sensitization towards the needs of specially abled children.
- ALVA’S DHANVANTARI POOJA MAHOTSAVA – 27.01.2025Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri, organized the prestigious Alva’s Dhanvantari Pooja Mahotsava with the objective of honouring eminent contributors in the field of Ayurveda and traditional healthcare. As part of the Alva’s Dhanvantari Pooja Mahotsava, a spiritually significant programme was organized at Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri, with the conduct of Śiṣyopanayana (initiation of students into the Ayurvedic tradition), followed by Dhanvantari Pūjā and Havana (Homa). The programme was further enriched with devotional Bhajans, creating a serene and inspiring atmosphere. At the conclusion of the rituals, Prasādam was distributed to all participants, marking the successful completion of the ceremonial proceedings.The programme was conducted in the presence of distinguished academicians, clinicians, researchers, and administrators from various institutions. During the ceremony, selected scholars were conferred with the Alva’s Dhanvantari Award for their academic excellence and professional dedication to Dr. Narayan T Anchan, Head, Padibidri Anchan Pharmacy, Dr. Sanjay K.S., Principal, ALN Rao Memorial Ayurvedic Medical College, Koppa and Dr. Seema Ranjith, Ayurvedic Wellness Centre Head, Thiruvananthapuram & Proud Alumni of AAMC. The dignitaries on the dais highlighted the importance of integrating traditional Ayurvedic principles with modern scientific approaches to enhance healthcare delivery. The awardees expressed their gratitude and shared insights from their academic and professional journeys, motivating students and young practitioners to pursue excellence in teaching, research, and patient care. The programme also provided a platform for academic interaction and professional networking among participants.
- WORLD DIABETES DAY 2025 – on 14.11.2025 – On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, the Department of Kayachikitsa and Panchakarma, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital, Moodbidire, organized a Free Diabetes Camp on 14th November 2025 from 8.00 AM to 1.00 PM at Alva’s Ayurveda Hospital, Moodbidire, with the objective of early detection, awareness, and preventive care of diabetes mellitus. The camp aimed to provide accessible health screening and education to the community and included free blood sugar testing, blood pressure check-ups, doctor consultations, diabetes awareness sessions, diet counselling, and guidance on lifestyle modification and yoga. Participants were systematically registered and screened, following which personalized advice was provided based on individual health assessment. A significant number of beneficiaries from the surrounding areas, including known diabetic patients and individuals at risk, availed the services and benefited from early screening and counselling. The programme resulted in the identification of individuals with elevated blood sugar levels, enhanced awareness regarding diabetes prevention and management, positive public response, and improved community engagement. The successful conduct of the camp reflected the department’s commitment to preventive healthcare and community health promotion.
- World Immunization Day is observed to emphasize the crucial role of vaccines in preventing life-threatening infectious diseases and safeguarding community health. In alignment with this objective, the Department of Kayachikitsa, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, Moodbidre organized the World Immunization Day celebration on 10-11-2025 at the PG Seminar Hall from 2.15 pm to 4.00 pm. The programme was conducted for 3rd Prof BAMS students and PG scholars with the aim of enhancing awareness about immunization, vaccine-preventable diseases, and the functioning of national vaccination services. The event focused on providing both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure to strengthen students’ understanding of immunization protocols and public health responsibilities. The programme began with an inaugural session by lighting the lamp, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Susheel Shetty, Principal, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College. The academic session included expert lectures by distinguished resource persons. Dr. Chethana K delivered a lecture on the Introduction to Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) and National Immunization Schedule (NIS), explaining the objectives, coverage, and significance of national vaccination services. Dr. Harshith G.C spoke on AEFI – Anaphylaxis: Identification, Reporting and Management, highlighting early recognition and emergency management of adverse events following immunization. Dr. Shravya Alva addressed Vaccine Transportation and Cold Chain Equipment, emphasizing storage, handling, and maintenance of vaccine potency. An interactive session followed, allowing students to clarify doubts and engage with the speakers. As part of practical exposure, 3rd Prof BAMS students visited the Community Health Centre (CHC) on 13-11-2025 along with the Kayachikitsa department staff. The visit enhanced students’ understanding of real-time immunization procedures, vaccine administration, documentation, and cold chain maintenance in a clinical setup. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Surekha Pai, HOD, Department of Kayachikitsa.
- On the occasion of National Ayurveda Day 2025, the Department of Kayachikitsa successfully organized a Cardiac Health Awareness and Free Check-up Camp from 1st September to 30th September 2025. The camp was conducted with the objective of creating awareness about cardiac health, facilitating early detection of cardiovascular risk factors, and promoting lifestyle modifications for the prevention and management of heart diseases through Ayurvedic principles. The services provided during the camp included free ECG screening, free consultation by Kayachikitsa physicians, and personalized advice on diet and lifestyle modification for cardiac health. A total of 21 patients were enrolled in the programme, reflecting good community participation. Among them, 5 patients reported for follow-up, demonstrating compliance with the guidance and active involvement in maintaining their health. Overall, the month-long camp played a significant role in spreading awareness about cardiac care in the community and ensured accessible screening and consultation services. The positive follow-up response indicates growing interest and trust in Ayurveda-based lifestyle interventions for cardiac well-being. The programme thus contributed meaningfully to preventive healthcare and public awareness under the banner of National Ayurveda Day 2025.
- Dept. of Shalyatantra has organised screening and free medicine distributuion medical camp for Piles at Jarigekatte and AAMC Hospital. Total number of 88 patients were benefitted from this camp. The camp was headed by Dr. Manjunath Bhat, Dr. Mahabalesh, Dr. Rajeshwari, Dr. Shankar Prasad and Dr. Vishnu.
- Alva’s Traditional Medicinal Archive (ATMA) in collaboration with Mangalore University, Konaje, organised National Seminar on Plant Taxonomy & Pharmacognosy on 12th and 13th Dec 2025 at Mangalore University Campus, Konaje. The inaugural function was graced by Shri Arsalan IPS, Chief Executive Officer, Karnataka State Medicinal Plants Authority, Bengaluru, who inaugurated the programme. The event was presided over by Prof. P. L. Dharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Mangalore University. Dr. M. Mohan Alva, Chairman, Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodubidire, was the Chief Guest. The Guests of Honour included Dr. M. J. Prabhu, Senior Medicinal Plants Consultant, Karnataka State Medicinal Plants Authority, and Shri K. Amaranarayana I.A.S. (Retd.), Hon. President, Karnataka State Sandalwood and Vanakrishi Growers Association. Shri Raju Mogaveera KAS (Retd.), Former Registrar, Mangalore University, was felicitated during the programme. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Sulaiman C. T., Senior Scientist and Head, Phytochemistry Division, Centre for Medicinal Plants Research, Kottakkal, Kerala, who highlighted the significance of medicinal plants, traditional knowledge systems, and pharmacognostic research in contemporary healthcare. As part of the conference activities, Poster and Oral Presentations on “Awareness on Probiotic Butter Milk” were conducted on 13th December 2025 at 5.30 PM at Mangala Auditorium. The session was presided over by the Registrar, Mangalore University, with Prof. Manjaiah D. H., Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. B. H. Shekhar, Director, PMEB, Mangalore University, as Guest of Honour. The programme concluded with the National Anthem. The event was organized under the leadership of Prof. M. Jayashankar, Senior Professor in Microbiology and Organizing Secretary, Dr. Subrahmanya Padyana, Director, ATMA-AEF and Co-organizing Secretary, and Dr. Farhan Zameer, Joint Secretary and Chief Scientific Officer, ATMA-AEF.
- FREE DIAGNOSTIC CAMP ON NEURODEVELOPMENTAL DISORDERS – 23.01.2026-A diagnostic camp on Neurodevelopmental Disorders and Blood Check-up was conducted by Dept. of Kaumarabhrtya, Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, at Spoorti Special School and Training Centre on 23rd January 2026. The camp was led by Dr. Narayana Pai and Dr. Sudha. Children were screened for neurodevelopmental conditions, and blood investigations were carried out as required. The camp aimed at early identification and guidance for further management. A total of 60 children benefited from this camp
